If you spent the better part of last year trying to get pregnant, it is time to start thinking of your fertility options. Infertility treatments continue to boast higher and higher success rates each year, so now is the time to get prepared if this is the year you want to have a baby. Here are our tips for creating a game plan for your infertility treatment:

  1. Find a Fertility Center You Can Trust in NJ

The first step for getting your infertility game plan ready is to find a fertility center you can trust. Being able to have complete confidence in your doctor and the practice is an extremely important part of your infertility treatment. Having a clear line of communication with your doctor will make the process that much easier on you. You also want to check the success rates of the practice you are going to. They should have updated success rates on their website or readily available statistics at their practice.

  1. Complete Thorough Fertility Testing

The next step for infertility treatment will be to have a thorough fertility evaluation completed. This will determine the cause of your and/or your partner’s infertility so that the proper type of  treatment can be provided. At South Jersey Fertility Center, we provide extensive testing so that we can most accurately determine what the best treatment will be for you. Testing may include an FSH and AMH blood test, other hormonal blood tests, a baseline ultrasound, HSG, and Progesterone blood testing. The age of both partners will also be considered, along with a semen test for the male partner.

  1. Choose an Infertility Treatment Method

Depending on the cause of your infertility, there may be a few different treatment options. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is the most common treatment option for infertility. This process involves retrieving a woman’s eggs from her ovaries and then fertilizing them outside of the body. The fertilized egg (embryo) is then placed into the uterus in hopes of achieving a pregnancy.  In other cases, infertility treatment may involve ovulation medications,  fibroid removal, tubal surgery, intrauterine inseminations or the use of a donor egg or sperm.

  1. Ready, Set, Go For It!

Upon choosing which infertility treatment will best achieve your goals of growing your family, it is time to get started! Create a timeline for when it will be best for you and your partner to begin treatment. Understand the success rates and the possibility that you may have to go through more than one cycle to achieve success. With an open mind and dedication to the process, you will be doing everything in your power to conceive this year.
