The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) recently published an updated, more inclusive, definition of infertility. In this new definition, there is a mention of a person’s inability to conceive due to sexual and reproductive history, as well as those who may need the use of a donor as an individual or with a partner. In past, the definition of infertility only included male/female couples who were trying to conceive without success. As of October 2023, ASRM not only highlights infertility for same sex couples, but also shines light on the many single women who are building their family, and those who choose to use donor embryos or eggs.
At South Jersey Fertility Center, we support the LGBTQ+ community, single individuals, and those using donor services to grow their family. Our team is here for you no matter your gender, sexual orientation, relationship status, or ethnicity. Everyone deserves the opportunity to begin their path to parenthood, and having a reputable, clinically driven organization like ASRM recognize the various factors that go into building a family are another step forward for fertility care for all.
