Fertility and COVID-19: What You Need To Know

We understand the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the lives of millions across the world, and we know first-hand the additional stress this has put on your family building plans. To keep you informed, we’ve listed the most frequently asked questions regarding fertility and COVID-19 below.

  1. What can I do during the pandemic to begin my family building journey?
    Telemedicine consultations are available to new patients, current patients who want to discuss their testing results, next steps or further details of treatment. We have fully resumed all treatment and testing with appropriate safety precautions in place.
  2. Is South Jersey Fertility open?
    Our Marlton, Sewell and Egg Harbor Township offices remains open to serve you. As always, our physicians are available on-call for any urgent matters outside of regular business hours.
  3. Does COVID-19 impact fertility or early pregnancy?
    Currently, there is no evidence to suggest that COVID-19 has an impact on fertility or early pregnancy.
  4. What precautions is South Jersey Fertility Center taking to maintain a safe environment?
    To maintain the well-being of both staff and patients, we have implanted several daily tasks such as taking the temperatures of both staff and patients, sanitizing all surfaces in between each patient visit, and using telemedicine when available to encourage social distancing. We have also asked patients are asked to come alone to appointments with a face covering per the latest CDC recommendations.
  5. Will delaying treatment affect my chances of conceiving?
    We fully understand the emotional and stressful aspect of delaying conception however, postponing treatment for 1-2 months, in most cases, does not have an impact on overall success rates.
  6. Is fertility preservation for cancer patients still being offered?
    Yes. Those who are facing an urgent need for fertility preservation can still proceed. This includes both egg and sperm freezing.
  7. Are my frozen embryos, eggs or sperm safe?
    Any cryopreserved embryos, eggs, or sperm are safely stored onsite. There is no immediate threat to their safety.
  8. I’m having a difficult time emotionally. What resources are available to me?
    We understand the uncertainty and stress that you may be experiencing. We work with Lori Posner, a licensed family and marriage therapist who is offering online or phone consultations, to give you the support you need during this time.
