Q: Why did you become a reproductive endocrinologist? What is the best part of your job?
A: I came from a family of all doctors. We’ve always been in the medical field. For me, the reason that I love reproductive endocrinology and infertility is because it is really one of the very few fields in medicine where you can change lives in a very positive and meaningful way. There’s nothing more rewarding than helping couples bring children into the world.
Q: What inspires you?
A: Every patient I work with inspires me in a different way; however, I feel rewarded when I’m able to help couples who came to our practice after they were unsuccessful elsewhere. The most inspiring part of all is when families come back to visit us with their baby. It’s like a miracle has happened before your eyes-it’s truly the most rewarding feeling in the world.
Q: What is the most exciting new advancement in fertility?
A: An exciting advancement that is happening is embryo genetic testing with IVF. Using this technology, we can screen the healthiest embryo and select that one to be placed back into the uterus. This greatly increases success rates.
