Improving your chance of conception through IUI
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a fertility treatment that involves directly injecting sperm into the woman’s uterus to increase the chances of the egg(s) being fertilized. An IUI is often paired with oral or injectable medications to stimulate follicular growth (follicles contain eggs).

More on IUIs
In standard menstrual cycles, only one mature egg is ovulated per month; whereas in IUI treatment cycles with medication, more than one egg follicle is stimulated. In most treatment cycles, ovulation is triggered by a special injection at a carefully coordinated time with an IUI procedure. Sperm can be used from either a partner or reputable donor sperm bank.
Is IUI Right For You?
IUI can be used to treat a variety of fertility conditions and is a common, quick and painless treatment option. IUI is also one of the most cost-effective treatment options available today. An evaluation with a fertility specialist will help determine if IUI is the most successful treatment for you.
The IUI Process
Stimulation Cycle
Ultrasounds and blood work appointments are scheduled throughout the period of stimulation to ensure follicular growth.
Trigger Shot
A special shot is given to induce ovulation and help appropriately time the IUI.
Sperm Collection or Thaw
Sperm can be collected the day of the procedure or can be thawed if frozen.
IUI Procedure
The IUI takes place in the comfort of our office and takes under 15 minutes. A tiny catheter is inserted into the cervix, which allows sperm to be injected directly into the uterus.
Pregnancy Test
After two weeks, a blood pregnancy test is drawn to confirm pregnancy.
